I have used energy efficient light bulbs before but I would only put them in the rooms that we use the most like the living room, the bathroom and kitchen but I did not think to put them in every room of the house as a way to save on our electric bill. You may remember the post I did last month when I shopped for GE Energy Efficient Light Bulbs and my shopping experience at Walmart.
My husband has yet to put the lights up for the backyard, we decided that we wanted to get the fence up first. Then my brother-in-law got married, we had my daughters’ birthday to celebrate, so we have put it at the top of his Honey-Do-List for this weekend. One thing I loved about shopping for GE Lightbulbs was the affordability and the large selection of bulbs to choose from. We went with the GE Energy Smart bulbs for home.
It seems like the living room area is so dark at night, we don’t have a ceiling light yet so the tabletop lamps we had up just were not giving off enough light, however, once we installed the new Energy Smart bulbs it lit up the room better than have seen it since we moved in, in April. Plus we do get tired of picking up light bulbs every time we have to go to the store. We did however make our way back to the store to change out the Energy Smart bulb we put up at the front door to a GE bug light
I closed my eyes when I opened my electric bill lol and to my surprise! The bill was $147.73
I called the electric company to find out what my bill was for around the same time last year and it was $184.96 a savings of $37.23. The odd thing is we moved into a home that is quite a bit bigger than the two-bedroom condo we were living in and we didn’t use energy-saving bulbs there…I know shame on me. I have to say that I am very happy with the change in price. It will allow us to contribute more money into the paint for the outside of the house and yes the roof is the same color!!! So when you make the switch to GE Energy Efficient Light Bulbs think of me and feel free to make a donation to the Please Change the Color of Celeste’s house fund 😉
Seriously, if it made this much of a difference now I cannot wait to see what our bill is going to look like during the cooler months. I guess only time will tell and I will have to do another post to show you how much I was able to save.
