Disney has expanded After Hours to their additional parks
For $125 you get 3 hours in the park after it closes, you get unlimited ice cream, popcorn, and drinks. My initial thought was ‘geez $125 for 3 hours? so for my family of 4 that is a little over $500 after taxes! It doesn’t sound worth it because what can you do in 3 hours?”
Well as it turns out you can do A LOT like A LOT in those 3 hours. SO let me show you how my night went and what made me change my mind about the After Hours event.
1. NO CROWDS
So while there is a limited number of tickets sold to help keep the crowd low, when I say the park felt empty, it felt like we had the park to ourselves
After taking this shot I walked down the place with my arms outstretched because I could and not worry about bumping into anyone. I went with my sister-in-law (SIL) and we both said that we maybe saw 100 people the entire night. Which for the park size is pretty impressive.
2. NO WAIT ON RIDES
So the definite upside to the price is the fact that there were at most a 5 min wait on rides and this is for the more popular rides in the park like Flight Of Passage, which the last time I went had a 5 hour wait. 5…yes it had a 5-minute wait during After Hours. At one point in the night, it was just me and my SIL in our room
Same with Expedition Everest where it was us and two other people
The snacks included: ice cream sandwiches, popcorn, fruit pop, assorted popsicle’s, and drinks (soda and water). You can get regular food but only at select restaurants that are a part of the after hours. Plenty of stuff to keep you going for the 3 hours you are there.
So this is for the shutterbugs or those that just want to get an awesome selfie at their favorite spot in the park. The best part of After Hours and having no huge crowds are the uninterrupted views like the view of Expedition Everest at night is amazing.
It was worth it, it was worth it, it was worth it! Every thought I had going into this have been proven wrong. While I did miss some attractions and shops that were not open during the After Hours but we were able to do more then we would have during the day. Being able to not have to deal with crowds and long lines it felt like a dream I had as a kid of being left in the park after closing time. I think we have a new family tradition.
