My Gnome on the Roam Adventure Kit

Nothing can beat a kids imagination and creativity. My youngest is even more creative then I can remember being at her age. So when I heard about an adventure kit that included a gnome and finding ways to help him travel and explore the world around him, I was so excited to check out My Gnome on the Roam.

Embark on a family adventure that encourages not just kids but parents to spend time with each other in a way where you don’t need anything but your imagination and maybe an android or apple device for the Gnome on the Roam app.

What comes with your kit?

Little Gustav the gnome (who is blank to allow for even more creative fun) comes in his own little cardboard suitcase with one pen made out of wood, adventure journal, and a storybook that tells Gustav’s story.

“Your very own customizable DIY gnome arrives in his suitcase along with his favorite things: a copy of My Gnome on the Roam ®, and a custom made journal full of blank pages to be filled. Its an invitation for a family experience designed to help you and your kids explore and create, offering countless hours of fun and connection. Because life is about more than just reading stories—it’s about living them!”

The good folks over at My Gnome on the Roam want to make it where families, no matter how busy, can find time to spend quality time together. It is not always about the amount of time you spend together but what you do with the time you do have and the Whitehead crew is all about that!

Rules for the adventure kit are….oh that’s right there aren’t any, so you can do as much or as little as you want with your kit.

The Storybook – Who is Gustav?

His full story is inside the My Gnome on the Roam hardcover book that comes in his suitcase but basically:

“Gustav is a garden gnome who longs to experience the world beyond the picket fence that surrounds his yard. Though he makes several attempts to explore, it is only with the help and love of an imaginative little girl that his dream becomes a reality.

If My Gnome on the Roam ® were an ordinary children’s book, the story would end there.

But the adventure is only beginning…”

Now, I would love to tell you more about his story but I hate spoilers, but I will say this about the book, aside from an adventurous tale the pages are also COLORING pages. The fun does not have to stop once the book is completed, you can download your own directly from their website in the Kids Corner.

Gustav comes as a completely blank canvas so use your imagination for how you want to decorate, we are still in the decision making process. I have seen some pretty amazing creations on their Facebook page.

The Adventure Journal and the App

The adventure journal is where the next chapters of Gustav’s adventures come to life. Each page is blank and allows for kids to write and add their own illustrations.

The app (optional)Time to Roam: 15 Minute Adventure for Busy Families

Running out of ideas? No worries! The app is here to the creative rescue. In the app, you can get inspiration for your journal, ideas of what you can collect and explore to add to your story. The app is available for Android and the App Store.
