After a streak of 70 races, we finely get to see the acrobatics of Carl Edwards. Carl flipped with pride Sunday feeling “relevant” again. Good way to start out the year as taking the second trophy of the season. It was a great green white checkered to get Edwards the win.
The trick is however, was keeping the Daytona Track winner off your tail. If you notice, Johnson is in second, being a mere 1.024 seconds behind Edwards. Jimmy is having a great year starting out. He is playing to be the car to beat. If he and his team can keep the car fast. I say watch out!
Unfortunately, Good old Mark Martin did not have such a good day. With some pit issues, and tie ups with loose wheels and ending up a lap down, he had fought to lead 49 laps this weekend. Still Mark found himself in 21st place at the end of the day. Not what he needs in the first of the year, putting him down to 24th in standings. That is down by 4 places.
After a great run in Daytona, Danica Patrick finds herself in the wall on lap 185 Sunday.
“Obviously I blew a right-front,” Patrick, 39th in the 43-car field, said after departing the care center. “No real warning. … It was a little unexpected. I took a hard hit to the right, and then on the left (but) I’m fine.”
With her First DNF of the season, she now has to set herself for better next week end.
The year has its champion already shooting for the gold. So Far we have Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, and Clint Bowyer rounding out the top five. I wonder who is going to be out for blood this year. Gentlemen Watch Your Racing. Oh and ladies to.
