Going on vacation generally, means you get to enjoy a week or two of glorious tropical weather. Most of us love scorching temperatures and clear skies when we’re laying on the beach, taking a dip in the pool or spending time outdoors at an attraction. However, unless you’re very lucky, you’re probably going to get at least one day of rain on your trip. This can be a bit annoying, but don’t let it spoil the fun. Use it as a day to relax and recharge, and have a different kind of fun instead. Here are some ideas for making the most of those rainy vacation days!
Go to an Indoor Attraction
Depending on the location you’ve chosen for your vacation, there should be a good few tourist attractions around. Before you set off, make note of any that are indoor and would be good for a rainy day. It could be anything from a gallery to a museum to an indoor water park. That way if the storm clouds loom overhead while you’re away you know you have a fun day out planned to keep everyone occupied and make the most of your time away.
Have a Cosy Bonding Day
Let’s face it, you didn’t come on vacation to sit indoors like you would at home. But if you have young children or are on a particularly action-packed holiday, a day of rest might be just what you need. Get some coloring and reading books and pop the tv on. Order some room service, or dash out to the local store and make your own little picnic. You could use a photo postcard app and send a postcard to friends back home, email or video call them to update them on your trip so far. Enjoy a relaxed, lazy day. By the time the sunshine comes back out again, you’ll be well rested and ready to make the most of the time you have left.
Explore The Hotel
Chances are you paid a lot of money to stay at the hotel you’re out. Many are like entertainment complexes within themselves and are much more than just a place to sleep. So if you’re experiencing a gray day, why not have a look round and see everything it has to offer? It might have an indoor pool, spa and gym facilities, shops, there will more than likely be cafes and restaurants you could try out. At least that way you’ve got to experience the hotel for all it has to offer.
When the rain clouds pass overhead while you’re away, don’t let it dampen your mood. There’s nothing you can do to change the weather, but you can still have fun regardless and make the most of the precious family vacation time you have. Use it as an opportunity to do things you might not have given a second look at!
