I cannot even begin to describe how AMAZING I felt when my family and I and many other wonderful bloggers were offered the opportunity to visit Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure for a tour of the many wonderful holiday events. If you have not yet had the opportunity to go it is a definite must to get the season started off on the right foot. There was so much that we got the chance to see and do that it is kind of difficult to know where to start.
The trip started off at Grinchmas in Islands of Adventure:
We made our way through Seuss Landing and walked among the Whoville Who’s as we made our way to the first event of our trip to see the retelling of How The Grinch Stole Christmas in the live action show Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular. Their version was not completely identical to the movie with Jim Carry but it still had the same meaning and all of the laughter. After the show we had the opportunity to meet the Grinch face-to-face.
My 2 yr old fell asleep towards the end of the show (she was exhausted and fighting a cold) and by the time she woke up my husband was taking her up to see the Grinch and so of course she lifts her head up from daddy’s shoulder and turns around to the big green guy himself an well….that was the end of that LOL. My son was so excited he forgot he could talk, but we got a great picture either way….
Next stop before the parade was cookie making at Mel’s Diner.
Macy’s Parade, Holiday Village and Mannheim Steamroller
The next stop on our tour was over to the Universal Studios side to the Macy’s Parade. I had no idea that the balloons we saw during the parade were the actual ones from the NY parade. Once the parade is over with in NY they are carefully boxed up and whisked over to Orlando for their parade. The highlight of the parade was the lighting of the tree by none other than Santa himself. While my husband and I were amazed, the looks in the eyes of not just our toddlers but the eyes of all the children watching really added to the spirit of the Holidays.
After the parade we took a look at the shops in the Holiday Village and watched live glass blowing which was pretty cool and then it was off to see Mannheim Steamroller Perform. As the evening came to a close we were provided this awesome bag of goodies:
We stayed through a few of the songs and would have loved to stay for the entire show but the little ones were exhausted and it was getting colder…well as cold as it can get in Florida. Overall the experience is one you and the family cannot miss it was simply spectacular.
The festivies run until Jan. 1st so visit UniversalOrlando/Holidays for ticket information. Be sure to check out more great photos from our time at the event: [envira-gallery id=”6505″].
